OCCIDENT is part of the Helmholtz Enterprise Jury

We are delighted that Mirco Müller from our life sciences investment team was a jury member of the Helmholtz Enterprise Program at Helmholtz Association this year.

The Helmholtz Enterprise program is dedicated to supporting scientists in transforming their innovative research into exciting start-up projects. By supporting spin-offs from the various Helmholtz Centers, this program helps researchers identify market needs, build strong teams, develop viable businesses models and bring groundbreaking ideas to the market.

The Helmholtz Enterprise Program consists of two independent modules:

  • Initially, projects can be awarded the smaller Field Study Fellowship. In this first module, personnel and material costs are funded in order to identify customer needs through interviews and market research.
  • Secondly, projects can receive the larger Spin-off Program. This larger funding module supports the establishment of a start-up team. If required, the Spin-off Program also finances externally recruited team members and the expansion of the internal team’s start-up skills, e.g. through participation in entrepreneurship training.

As an early-stage deep-tech investor, OCCIDENT is proud to partner with the Helmholtz Association and contribute to turning innovative science into great ventures. It was a great opportunity for us to see exciting science and meet the teams behind these ideas.
