OCCIDENT participates in Immitra Bio’s pre-seed financing round, which totals 2.4 million Swiss Francs. The round was led by Backbone Ventures and co-led by OCCIDENT. Further participants include Another VC, Kickfund, Venture Kick, Zürcher Kantonalbank, FONGIT, ETH Foundation, and selected private investors.
Based in Plan-les-Ouates, Switzerland, Immitra Bio is developing novel in-vivo gene editing therapies for genetic diseases. The company’s approach is designed to eliminate the need for complex ex-vivo cell manipulation, patient conditioning, and stem cell transplantation. The technology is based on leveraging genetic redundancy of the human genome.
With the new funding, Immitra Bio will advance the preclinical development of its lead program, IB-003, which is being developed as a potential one-time curative therapy for an inherited anemia. The funding will also support the further validation of the company’s platform and the development of additional programs in its pipeline.
